Goal: To correct the shape and reduce the angle between the auricle and the head.
Surgical technique: Excision of the excessive retroauricular skin and remodelling of the auricular cartilage until normal contour and angle are achieved.
Duration and anesthesia: The procedure is performed under the local anesthesia and lasts about one hour for both sides. If necessary, it could be also performed under general anesthesia in small children (after age of 6).
Recovery: Bandage around the head is removed after one week, stitches after two weeks.
Rare complications: Transitory swelling of the auricle due to hematoma.
