Botulinum toxin type A – Botox in primary axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
Botulinum toxin type A represents a safe and effective treatment for primary axillary hyperhidrosis.
Procedure: After visualization of hyperhidrosis using the iodine-starch test, patient with axillary hyperhidrosis is treated with intra-dermal injection containing Botox at each axilla. The treatment is well tolerated without side-effects. All patients experience relatively complete anhidrosis of the axillary skin after about 1 week for periods ranging from 4 to 7 months. After this period of time is passed, the treatment could be repeated.
